Kilo Apron Development, Heathrow Airport

GTA provided the complete production design and construction support. Our Client was Ferrovial Construction.

The Kilo Apron Development was delivered by our client, Ferrovial Construction for Heathrow Airport Limited. It covered a number of projects across the Apron and in T2B which we were involved in.

T2 Kilo Box:

The scope of the project included the demolition of above ground existing passenger connectors and creation of a through taxi lane and two new Code F stands on the western face of Terminal 2 Satellite B, together with the construction of a subsurface enclosure for a future early bag store and baggage connectivity routes, and tunnels for a future passenger track transit rail system connecting T2A and T2B.

The subsurface spaces will be fitted out in future when the extension of Terminal 2 is undertaken but have been equipped in their temporary state with servicing and life safety systems as required. Construction of the substructure has continued throughout the Covid pandemic and is due for completion by end 2021.

GTA have acted as Lead Designer, Architect and Traffic Engineer for the project, from completion of Scheme Design to completion of construction and handover.

Thank you Ferrovial Construction’s Jaedan Potts for the supplied photographs of the Kilo Box
