The complete refurbishment of a large country house, set in 55 acres, providing a substantial home. The existing layout has been remodelled to include demolition of parts of the main house and two new double-storey extensions.
The architectural strategy was to re-balance the existing two-gabled, two storey volumes of the existing house, with a third, to create symmetry, whilst adding a more reserved two storey extension. Also, taking advantage of the existing site’s levels afforded a secluded basement extension with sunken swimming pools and landscaped terraces. The triple aspect kitchen extension embraces the breath-taking views over the countryside and the restored rose kitchen garden.
In addition to the extending of the house, the interiors were also extensively modernised.
